ZERO WASTE

An expert on initiatives directed towards the care for the environment was included in the group of visitors during the Erasmus+ mobility hosted in Ferrol in February 2025. She is the president of the association COSMUS DIY Thessaloniki and her name is Aravella Salonikidou.      A group of students from IES Canido involved in a previous Erasmus+ Project had had the opportunity to meet and interview her in Thessaloniki in May 2022. You can see them in the photograph. We had learnt a lot from her and put into practice some of her suggestions and, therefore, decided to invite her to Ferrol so that she shared her knowledge with a larger audience (more than 70 people in total) from several countries: Estonia, Poland, Sweden, Italy and Spain, multiplying its impact and results.  Here is a short video of some of the workshops she carried out as well as an introduction to thank her for her ideas by three students who had taken part in the "growing loofah activity". During the recent mobility of schools from Estonia, Sweden, Poland and Italy to IES Canido (Ferrol, Spain), we made our best from our loofah production.     We organised several activities related to the use of loofah. Here are some of them. GOAL: The goal of the whole set of tasks is that, by using digital means, the students will create a poster or a small presentation for a startup they are going to invest on. They will sell loofah and have to promote it to get as many customers as possible.   Activity 1 STEPS: First, we divided the students in international small groups. They were 60 in total: 7 from Estonia, 12 from Sweden, 13 from Poland, 6 from Italy and 22 from Spain. We asked them to form groups of 5 students and, therefore, we got 12 groups. (10 minutes) Second, the groups gathered together and we showed them individual loofahs and asked them to touch and analyse the product and start thinking about which products they could create using this biodegradable ...

El pasado 5 de junio de 2024, con motivo del Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, celebramos una interesante charla en el IES Canido, en Ferrol. Dos representantes de la Asociación española de Sensibilidad Química Múltiple nos introdujeron al conocimiiento de esta enfermedad que parece tan lejana... y, sin embargo se encuentra tan cerca...         Fotografía de Facebook de la Asociación española de Sensibilidad Química Múltiple. Nuestras ponentes: Doña Mª Argentina Rey Fernández (a través de video conferencia) y Doña Ángeles Soto Gómez de forma presencial nos contaron en qué consiste esta enfermedad, pudiendo observar de primera mano, los enormes condicionantes que tienen cada vez que necesitan salir de su casa. Y decimos necesitan porque por placer pocas veces lo hacen. Para ellas, y para cualquier enfermo que padezca esta enfermedad, poner un pie en la calle supone enfrentarse a una marea gigantesca de obstáculos insuperables, un océano de químicos que hace saltar todas...

In April 2024, I visited Collège Le Russeau in Reunion Island in order to carry out a jobshadowing mobility, which is part of the project we are running at the moment at school: KA121 Zero Waste included in Erasmus+. We live in Ferrol, in the Galician province of A Coruña. We have investigated a variety of initiatives which are being carried out in our area and have found there are more than we initially thought. In the video we are presenting, you will be able to explore and discover Iceland a bit, from the point of view of a teacher who attended a course there. It has a little to do with Geography, Geology, Biology and culture in general. The video aims at getting a little information about the country in such a way that the viewer learns a few interesting facts about it. The attached Kahoot activity (coming soon...) will allow a teacher check easily, for example, how well the students have learnt the contents developed. LINK TO THE VIDEO

Presentamos un listado de actividades que se pueden realizar fácilmente en el colegio y que ayudarán a profesores y alumnos a profundizar en la experimentación de iniciativas dirigidas a aumentar la sostenibilidad en la escuela y en nuestras propias vidas. Estos materiales son adecuados para asignaturas como: física, química, biología o cualquiera relacionada con el cuidado del medio ambiente (que en el caso de nuestro colegio es Proyecto Competencial). Las actividades fueron compartidas por PMS ERASMUS PLUS en el curso organizado por ellos: "Greener School for a Sustainable Future", realizado en Reikiavik en octubre de 2023. Son de código abierto y, además, nos han concedido amablemente permiso para traducir parte de esos materiales al español y subirlos aquí. Les estamos muy agradecidos por ello.
