Looking down from the top: Bergamo!

A good connection of flights between Santiago de Compostela and Bergamo allowed us to visit this beautiful city last February 2024 on our trip to Verona. Orio al Serio, the way the airport is called, was our arrival place in Italy. As it was early in the morning, after a night flight, we decided to take a bus to the city centre to explore this Patrimony of Humanity wonderful place.

After a short trip, we left our luggage at lockers in the nearby bus station and took a connecting bus (included in the fare from the airport bus) to the upper part of town, enclosed behind the Venetian Walls which surround it. We explored the old town and discovered its hidden treasures, which we loved.

After having lunch in a small restaurant in one of the typical squares, we had our last glance at the city and started or way back to the station, where we would take a regional train to get to our final destination in Verona. After about 2 hours, we reached our last stop, walked to our accomodation and, after dinner, got ready for our next day work at Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “Michele Sanmicheli”.

The day started with a visit  to the fashion section of this secondary school, where we could explore how they work and how they focus on working with used textiles and new used materials in order to contribute to sustainability. We were surprised by the originality of some designs.
